This study shows that legume trees like Leucaena leucocephala can be used for phytoremediation (plant-based cleanup) of mercury-polluted soils from artisanal gold mining. Infected hosts that become more infectious overshadow variation in susceptibility in driving epidemic size, according to an experimental study on birds.
